Angel Guan
PhD Student
Angel is a PhD student at the University of Sydney investigating cancer and immune vulnerabilities in melanoma patients undergoing immunotherapy. His interest in cancer and immunotherapy began during his Honours in Biochemistry at the University of Auckland, where he studied proteins involved in T cell signalling. At the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), Angel integrates spatial and single-cell multi-omics data to uncover mechanisms of recurrence in patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy. He views his PhD as a unique opportunity to collaborate across disciplines, working closely with data scientists, biologists, and clinicians to bridge molecular biology with clinical insight. His long-term goal is to advance understanding of immunotherapy and contribute to the development of future treatments for melanoma and other cancers.
